TRAIL OF THE METIS TRAPPER
Trail of the Métis Trapper is a team building competition between teams in a round robin where they will complete six tasks through out the day before
participating in the final race between teams. During the fur trade era, the Hudson's Bay Company and the North West
Company merged into one company as the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). When this happened, many Métis (mixed blood
native & Europeans) were let go of their contracts and went onto become competition for the new company.
|
| | | However,
many of the Métis were kept on for their expertise and these people are now going to train your team to become
"Trappers" for the HBC in order to stay on top of the fur trade. Each team will be given an HBC manual to assist
them in their tasks as well as a knowledgeable Métis guide to teach them their trade. |

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
This program is excellent for developing leadership skills, communication, productivity and inventiveness in addition to allowing people to learn how to work together as a team. Each of the tasks; if done successfully will earn your team "hides" or "pelts" that will be necessary for your final race. Be vigilant once you get them, you could potentially lose one of them at the next task! Tasks included river crossings, canoe rescue, mine shaft rescue, camp setup, cart building, hatchet throwing and navigation.
