TERRAIN & PROGRAM
Skiing
the Canadian Rockies is an incredible experience – Cat skiing the Canadian Rockies at Island Lake is
an unbelievable experience! It's one of life's "must do's" for every avid skier and rider. Three, four or seven
days of untouched powder, no crowds just you and 11 friends ripping up 7000 acres of bowls, steeps and glades
all covered in deep dry powder.

Imagine your favorite resort covered with 2 feet of fresh powder,
closed to all but you and your 11 friends! First timers and veterans will be happy to hear that 200
days have been spent glading ski runs at Island Lake Catskiing this summer, including tune ups on many
of the runs on the front of Mt Baldy (Beer Run, Ho Dad and the Enchanted Forest) and on Mt Fernie
(White Tail and Teli Fun). The early Catskiing just keeps getting better and better.

Everyday starts with a hearty breakfast and a stretch class (optional). On your first day, you'll be taken through an avalanche awareness program followed by transceiver training (not optional). Then it's time to board the snowcat and begin the climb to your first run minutes away. Skiing starts at 9am and the last run gets you back to the lodge at 4pm. You'll normally ski 10 to 15 runs per day, approximately 12,000 and 15,000 vertical feet. Après cat-ski at the Bear Lodge with hot soup and fresh bread paired with your favorite beverage. Enjoy a hot tub or massage before dinner in the Tamarack at 7pm.
We are proud to offer our guests powder skis , Snowboards and tele-skis at no extra charge. This year a brand new fleet of K2 Apache Chief and Phat Luv skis have arrived for the 06/07 season. For snow boarding the K2 Nemesis and the Ambush, will give boarders the floatation to surf the super light powder.
For cross country skiers we have a new snow cat, the same brand of machine that was used in the Torino Olympics. We will set cross-country trails around the resort for our non skiing guests and for those that have the energy to cross-country ski before or after Cat skiing.
Island Lake Cat skiing sets the pace with the latest snowcat technology from Pisten Bully. Powered by a stunning Mercedes Benz engine, The Edge Pisten Bully snow cat whisks us to the top of unimaginable places incredibly quickly for awesome big mountain skiing. Radios have been installed in the back of all the snowcats and can receive FM signals from iPods equipped with the iTrip adapters, so bring on the tunes!
For the last two decades, the name Island Lake Lodge has been synonymous with legendary powder. Seth Morrison and Kent Krietler stated "Island Lake was the deepest, driest powder I've ever skied". Primarily that's what it's all about - perfect snow on really big mountains.
