Viewing polar bears in their natural habitat during the short arctic summer has become very popular with nature lovers and photographers. Canada is second to none for viewing polar bears.

 Cape Tatnum is a natural haven for polar bears. Polar bears are often seen sleeping for many days in huge pits or wallows that they dig in the cool beach sand. This behavior is often seen from the lodge or from the viewing towers, as the lodge is only a few hundred metres from the coastline. It is when the bears approach the 3 metre high security fence that the lodge gets most of it recognition as an eye to eye experience with the mighty Nanuk. This security fence protects visitors and bears, but does not discourage bears from investigating....more info

How To Get Here:
 Trips originate and end in Gillam, Manitoba. Gillam is serviced by a daily flight to Winnipeg by Calm Air. A charter plane provides the connection between Gillam and the lodge on the coast of Hudson Bay, near York Factory.

 Cabin accommodations. Max. 3 people per cabin, semi-private, bathroom, heated, electricity. Main lodge has all the comforts, including viewing area. Electricity 8 hours a day, wood and natural gas heat, library with maps, gift shop.
