TERRAIN WEATHER
To the west lies a vast expanse of
glaciers, remnants from the Ice Age, which still
cover hundreds of square kilometers. To the east
lies the rolling, dry Fraser Plateau. TLH
Heliskiing operates in the transition zone
providing the best of all worlds — magnificent
mountains, an abundance of dry powder snow and
plenty of sunshine.
|
| |
To date we have in excess of 300
heliskiing runs in an area of 830,000 acres. That's
3,500 km2 (1,300 miles2), or roughly 200 times the
size of the ski area of Vail, Colorado. |

| Snowfall |
Our average annual snowfall
at 5,900 feet (1,800 meters) is approximately 45 to 60
feet (14 to 18 meters) which leaves us with an average
base of 10 to 12 feet (3 to 4 meters) of snow on the
ground. It's not unusual to find 16 feet (5 meters) or
more of snow at higher elevations on the
glaciers. |
