TERRAIN WEATHER
Our area,
located in the Hart and Muskwa Ranges of the
Northern Rockies is just now being discovered by
skiers and boarders from all over the world, and
is fast becoming known for its most incredible and
spectacular snow quality..the Dry, Northern
Powder. |
| |
Wide
open Alpine Ridges and vast bowles surrounded by
jagged peaks are waiting for you to carve turns through
the sparkleing deep champagine powder. These open
runs average between 2100 and 3300 vertical feet
(650-1000 vertical meters). |
 |
For many
Heli-Skiers there is nothing to compare to 'tree
skiing'. We have discovered deep valleys with
naturally well spaced, mature trees and and
abundance of snow which will exceed the
expectations of the most demanding skiers. A large
number of these runs are only minutes from the
lodge and can easily be
utilized during poor weather
conditions. Our most spectacular tree runs are steep-pitched
with over 3700 feet (1100 eters) of
vertical..a dream come true for most discriminatry
skiers. | |
In percentages our terrain is 40%
gentle, 40% steep and 20% very steep. Remember we have
only skied a very small portion of the over 6,000 square
kilimeters or nearly 3000 square miles of tenured land
and expect to develop at the very least 200 more
exquisit (sic) and breathtaking runs. By the end of our
2004 we will have developed in excess of 400 runs! And
the adventure is just beginning!

| Weather |
Weather conditions in the Northern
Rockes are ideally suited for Heli-Skiing.Our dry winter
climate offers temperatures which range from -5
celsius(23 fahrenheit) down to -20 celsius or -4 degrees
Fahrenheit. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees
when it comes to the weather, temperatures can drop down
as low as minus 40 celsius or -40 degrees Fahrenheit for
short periods of
time. For the most part, snow conditions historically
range from good to outstanding 80% of our season. The
effect of being on the Great Divide and in the
"rainshadow" of the eastward moving Pacific air, our
area receives an abundance of percipitation, on an
average 3.7 meters or 45 feet annually providing us with
a base of 3-4 meters or 10-12 feet
annually! Storms dump blankets of Dry Powder
onto our mountain tops and valley bottoms regularily,
but they don't linger long, and always give way to
magnificient, sunny blue skies. Again, the weather is
unpredictable and no guarantees can be offered during
your stay with us in the Northern Rockies. With our tree line being at around
1600 meters (5200 feet) and some of our pick ups at 730
meters (2400 feet), our guides always strive to seek out
skiing possibilities during the most challenging
conditions in these sheltered areas. Your safety will
always be our first concern. On average, there are only
5 days out of our 19 weeks season that we cannot ski at
all. |
