GUIDES

Our guides are chosen for their professionalism, local knowledge and heli-skiing skills. In the field our guides apply these attributes and use a radio to make deci-
sions with your safety in mind.

    SLIDE SHOW

All are experienced and certified professionals (UIAGM/ACMG and CSG) with years of training in avalanche hazard forecasting, weather analysis, emergency medical techniques and guiding.
We use the ultimate heli-skiing machine the A-Star. These are powerful, very comfortable helicopters designed for mountain flying. All of our helicopters and high hour mountain trained pilots are supplied by Canadian Helicopters, the largest helicopter charter/company in Canada. Canadian Helicopters has the extensive infrastructure to maintain the rigorous maintenance schedule and safety inspections required for helicopters.
In order to fully enjoy your heli-skiing holiday you must be a strong intermediate skier. This means you have skied regularly over the last several years and can parallel turn. A heli-skier has to be capable of controlling themselves on treed runs and maneuver over variable mountain conditions. We suggest regular skiing and fitness conditioning before your heli-ski vacation.
Safety is always a priority. Our mountain lodge technical system monitor's weather patterns, conditions & snow stability. Operations is regularly in contact with the helicopter pilot in a combined effort to minimize hazards due to Mother Nature. There is however, an element of risk which in spite of our best efforts may not be eliminated and guests must share that risk with us.
When considering a heliski/board adventure please provide accurate information on your ability. Safety and enjoyment relies on it. We recommend intermediate to expert. Before skiing, your guides will brief you on the types of hazards you may encounter in any given run, and will give instruction in how to use a transceiver and how to participate in an avalanche or first-aid rescue. On the mountain, because of the diversity of terrain which we offer, the guides will brief you on snowpack stability, crevasses, cliffs, and other hazards as you approach them over the course of the week. Each client must sign the BC Helicopter and SNOWCAT SKIING Association waiver acknowledging this reality prior to skiing with us. All skiers and snowboarders are required to sign a comprehensive release of liability and waiver prior to participating in wilderness skiing with us.
