The northern coast of British Columbia is a unique wilderness experience. With its mix of old growth forests and coastline, it is the ideal location for both land and sea adventures. The area around Prince Rupert, Terrace and Kitimat offers some world-renowned saltwater and freshwater angling opportunities. The Skeena River system and its tributaries are famous for their world class Steelhead and Salmon fishing. Lodges located on the Skeena, Kalum and other local rivers offer the angler a river fishing experience of a lifetime. This region also includes the picturesque Queen Charlotte Islands. Because of their isolation and unique biodiversity, the Queen Charlotte Islands are considered by many to be the Pacific Northwest coasts "Galapagos Islands". The dramatic scenery and abundance of wildlife make this area the perfect location for kayaking expeditions. The islands also boast some of the finest saltwater fishing lodges in Canada. This rugged coastline contains a network of inlets, fjords and channels and coastal communities such as Bella Coola, Rivers Inlet, Ocean Falls and Bella Bella. This region is also home to the 'Spirit Bear' or Kermodi Bear, a rare white subspecies of the black bear.
