The Spectacular Northwest Territories is a region of immense size and variety. This territory is host to the mighty MacKenzie Mountains, the magnificent Nahanni National Park Reserve and Wood Buffalo National Park, home of Canada's largest free-roaming bison herd. World famous fishing lodges dot the spectacular region of the Northwest Territories. Most lakes are fly-in only, but offer all the comforts of home. If you prefer a more rustic adventure, try one of the fishing camps, where you go at your own pace without a guide. But don't worry, there is plenty of advice on what the big ones are biting and where to find them. Lodge based trips to view the northern lights or aurora borealis are also popular. Great rivers run through the Northwest Territories and you may choose a boat tour or canoe trip that will take you through the arctic on expeditions that are unrivaled. In the winter there are adventures that call out to your wilder side. Experienced guides will take you out on snowmobiles or by dog sled to go icefishing or view the aurora borealis. Native culture and traditions are shared by the local First Nations people. Where ever you go in the NWT and no matter what you choose to do, it will be a great Canadian adventure.
