Dramatic isolated coastlines and endless photo opportunites, this is Canada's arctic. The coastal arctic region exemplifies the true arctic, with its immense icecaps and winding glaciers. The coastal arctic region is included in the territory of Nunavut. The main feature of the coastal arctic is of course the Arctic Ocean, which is abundant with wildlife such as whales, walrus, seals and polar bears. Tremendous fishing can be found for trophy arctic char in the wild rivers that pour into the arctic ocean. Many adventures include Inuit guides whose knowledge of the region and the wildlife will amaze you. In the spring, which is May-June, you may head out by dog team in search of polar bears, seals and walrus in the near 24 hour daylight. In the summer there are river boat trips among the ice floes and hiking trips through tundra and alpine mountains.
