TRIP DETAILS

Trip Highlights
Day 1:
Late afternoon van pick up in Halifax for transfer to Chester. Bike familiarization and welcome dinner. Overnight at local inn.
Day 2:
Cycling on quiet roads around the Aspotogan Peninsula. You will pass through fishing villages of Northwest Cover, Aspotogan and Blandford and by the beach at Bayswater. A side trip to see the old whaling station. Picnic lunch at Bayswater and return to the village of Chester. Overnight at a local inn. Total distance is 39 miles.
Day 3:
Cycle along the shore of Mahone Bay past Oak Island to Lunenberg, stopping for lunch or shopping at the artisan's outlets in Mahone Bay. Arrive in Lunenberg in time to explore the architecture of this fascinating town. Optional ride along a famous cycling route to Blue Rocks. Overnight at a local inn. Total distance without optional ride is 24 miles.
Day 4:
Leave Lunenberg for morning exploration of Kingsburg, Hirtle's Beach and Riverport on the way to the LaHave Ferry. Visit to sea-caves at Ovens Park. Lunch at the LaHave Bakery before heading off to Crescent and Risser's Beaches. Saltwater swim with a freshwater rinse in a natural whirlpool. Overnight at local inn. Total distance is 40 miles.
Day 5:
Morning exploration of Broad Cove, Vogler's Cove, Little Harbour and Cherry Hill Beach before lunch in Port Medway or Beach Meadows. Afternoon cycle through fishing town of Liverpool to White Point Beach Lodge, where you can stroll along the beach, swim in the ocean or soak in the hottub before dinner. Overnight at lodge. Total distance is 40 miles.
Day 6:
Cycle to Southwest Port Mouton, then follow a wooded trail to St. Catherine's River Beach, home of the endangered piping plover and a colony of seals. After lunch at the beach return to Port Mouton for van transfer back to Halifax. Total distance is 7miles on road, 10 miles off road or 5 mile hike.
