On the morning of the first day you will board a float aircraft in Yellowknife and fly 310 airmiles to the river, where you will rendez-vous with your trip leaders.
Day 2 to 4:
Over the next four days you will paddle from the Dubawnt Highlands down the beautiful Clarke River, with its incredible side canyons, sandy eskers and wildlife. While descending the Clarke, you will follow the gradual slope of the Thelon Valley and then meet the Thelon River at its canyon of intense sandstone cliffs.
Day 5 to 7:
The next few days will be spent exploring historical and archaeological sites as you travel down the Thelon. There will be opportunities for day hiking trips and some excellent fishing for lake trout, grayling and northern pike.
Day 8 to 14:
The second half of the trip will bring you around the Big Bend and Muskox Pingo. This stretch of river has several traditional water crossings of the Beverly caribou. Lots of opportunity to view these animals up close. The trip ends with visits to some traditional Inuit sites.
