TRIP DETAILS

Trip Highlights
Day 1:
Arrival at the Wells Gray Guest Ranch at 09.00 a.m. Register at the desk. After meeting your guide at 09.30 drive to Green Mountain Viewing tower overlooking the southern part of Wells Gray Park. We continue on to visit Dawson Falls and do an enjoyable easy walk into Ray Farm, the first pioneer settlement. After lunch at the Clearwater River we continue on to Clearwater Lake. There our guide will give us a detailed introduction into paddling techniques and environmental ethics before we paddle our canoes for 2 hours to a beautiful camp setting, where we will set up camp for two nights.
Day 2:
Today we explore Clearwater Lake with our canoes, enjoy some fishing and possibly observe wildlife. An approximately 1 hour hike to Eagle’s View presents another chance to see wildlife and to enjoy a beautiful vista over Clearwater Lake. Second night at the camp.
Day 3:
After a relaxing breakfast we paddle back to the canoe launch and put away our canoes and paddle gear. After stopping at Bailey’s Chute where you can see the salmon jumping in August we visit majestic Helmcken Falls (2.5 times the height of Niagara Falls). An approximate 2.5 hour return hike brings us to the top of the falls feeling the power of the water dropping down into the lava canyon. Return to the Wells Gray Guest Ranch and arrive at approx. 04.30 p.m.
