Fishing Day Trips - Rivers
Most of our river fishing day trips are in Alberta and British Columbia. These may be walk & wade or float trips, or a combination of the two. These trips focus on fly fishing for trout and grayling in Alberta, and steelhead, trout and salmon in British Columbia. In Alberta, the world famous Bow River that runs through the city of Calgary contains large numbers of rainbow and brown trout. Drift boats are commonly used to float through the productive waters of the Bow River. To the north the Red Deer River has become an outstanding tailwater fishery for brown trout. To the south, the famous rivers such as Crowsnest and Oldman provide excellent fishing for rainbows and bull trout, among others. Alberta's foothills along the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains also have rainbows, browns, bull trout and cutthroat trout. Farther north in the Athabasca river drainage, arctic grayling can be found along with good populations of Alberta's native bull trout. In British Columbia, rainbow trout, bulls and cutthroat trout are the most common resident fish, with seasonal runs of steelhead and salmon on some rivers that are easily reached from Vancouver and Victoria.
