ABOUT THIS REGION  LAKE SEA KAYAKING

Exciting trip to Slate Islands

This is probably the only kayaking trip in North America to bring you the fascinating combination of caribou, meteorites and pictographs. Long before glacial melting filled the Great Lakes, a huge asteroid slammed into the earth and created the ecologically unique Slate Islands, 12 km off shore. You will spend 3 days in scenic protected waters around these islands with side trips to observe woodland caribou and lots of other wildlife. Then it is back to the mainland, where an overnight at Worthington Bay will allow you to view ancient Ojibway rock paintings, if the spirits allow!

Exciting trip to Slate Islands

This trip is an excellent combination of wildlife, culture and ancient history all in one.
