This lodge is ideally located on Miminiska Lake, part of the famous Albany River system, flowing north to James and Hudson Bay. This is a walleye fisherman's dream come true. Miminiska Lake is dotted with islands and shoals providing perfect habitat for walleye where anglers can be always fishing new areas and still be catching fish all day long. Miminiska Lake is a huge body of water with unlimited fishing locations throughout but for those interested in other fishing opportunities there are many. Petewanga Lake is separated from Miminiska Lake by Miminiska Falls and several smaller sets of rapids. It can be accessed by a half mile portage with several boats and motors waiting on the other side. Fantastic walleye and pike fishing is available here. Wottam Lake is available for more adventuresome fishermen. It is a much more difficult portage but it can be well worth the effort as it is rarely fished.
Brook trout fishing is available in the rapids between Miminiska Falls and Petewanga Lake. The current here is quite strong and guides must be taken on this adventure. Trout are also available up river from Snake Falls. This is done from a square stern canoe and again guides are mandatory. For the avid trout fisherman, the Keezhik River offers some great opportunities but one must be prepared to do some wading and dragging the canoe up many parts of the river. This river offers world class trout fishing but there is much work involved in getting to the prime locations.
