Outpost lake fishing camp on the Albany River

For those who prefer a real wilderness lake fishing experience this outpost camp on the Albany River is an excellent choice. This very secluded lake fishing camp is located at the east end of Makokibatan Lake close to the entrance of the Albany River. While this area is definitely wilderness, there are no lack of amenities including a shower, fully equipped ktichen and spacious living room. The fishing is the real highlight at this camp, offering every kind of water and every kind of challenge. At this outpost you set your own pace, and your biggest decision is where to fish first.

Makokibatan Lake is over 18 miles long, and famous for its large and plentiful walleye. The cold water and steady currents of the mighty Albany River also make for some monster Northern Pike. If you are in search of some extra adventure, let one of your guides take you downstream in search of the legendary Albany River brook trout.

Outpost lake fishing camp on the Albany River

Season: mid May to mid September
Requirements: Fishing gear, tackle and equipment, groceries, sleeping bags, towels, pillows, first aid kits and garbage bags.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing suited to a variety of summer weather. Rain gear, hiking boots, rubber boots, sneakers, warm jacket, hat, gloves.
Difficulty: Easy
Restrictions: Weight limit on baggage is 125 lbs per person.
Maximum Number of People: 10
Equipment Provided: 14 & 16 foot aluminum boats equpped with a 15 hp outboard per two anglers, landing net, fuel.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Armstrong, Ontario. Price includes return air transfer from Armstrong to the cabins. Armstrong is about a 2 hour drive from Thunder Bay, Ontario and is accessible by both road and air. Driving distance from Detroit is 857 miles, and from Toronto is 783 miles. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: Cabins are equipped with a wood heater, propane range, refrigerator and lights, cooking utensils, dishes, flatware and bunk beds.
Meal Information: Cabins have a fully stocked kitchen for doing your own cooking.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures average between 15 and 25 degrees celsius.
