Nova Scotia Sampler

If your time in Nova Scotia is limited, but your quest for adventure isn't, this multi-activity package is for you. It combines 3 different activities (rafting, horseback riding and whale watching by zodiac) with deluxe Nova Scotia accommodations. Ride the wake of the world famous Bay of Fundy on this exciting raft trip down the Shubenacadie River. The highest tides in the world are found at the head of the Bay of Fundy. The amount of water coming into this bay twice daily, equals the total discharge of all of the world's rivers. This is where the raft ride begins as the surging waters enter the largest river in Nova Scotia, the mighty Shubenacadie. The rafts are launched in Maitland and this gigantic tide forces you 29 km up river to the take out point on Rines Creek. The river narrows as the rafts are swept inland and when this enormous volume of water is forced around the major bends of the river you may encounter waves up to 9 feet in height. Unlike most river runs, which are down boulder strewn rivers, this three hour non-stop raft ride is over mud flats and sand bars, making it a safe adventure for all ages. This is a very scenic trip on the historical Shubenacadie River and it takes you through one of the most dense bald eagle populations in eastern North America. Some isolated sections have 50 to 150 foot cliffs reaching steeply up from the river's edge, while other sections have sandy or hard-packed mud beaches.

Nova Scotia Sampler

Continue your adventure on one of the highest points in mainland Nova Scotia. The horseback ride offers views of the Bay of Fundy and the local scenic landscape. You will ride along well groomed, scenic trails suitable for beginners to experts. Your guides will pace the ride accordingly, ensuring everyone has a safe and memorable ride. After two nights at a 4 star historic inn, head down the Digby Neck to your whale watching destination. Here the waters at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, from the ledges of Brier Island right up to Digby Neck, are important feeding areas for many species of whales, dolphins and porpoises, as well as seals and a large variety of seabirds. These tours provide an excellent opportunity to view some of these magnificent mammals up close, as well as provide a chance to learn about the marine ecosystem.
