Discover the true west coast by kayak and by foot at this oceanside adventure lodge. Probe the mysteries of marine life on the rugged coastline and serene fjords of western Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Experience the majesty of the west coast temperate rainforest while hiking to pristine outlying beaches in Barkley Sound. The quaint fishing village of Bamfield also offers historical points of interest. Return to a comfortable seaside lodge and enjoy excellent meals and hospitality. Barkley Sound is famous for its marine wildlife and isolated coastlines, with eagles, orcas and grey whales providing excellent photo opportunities.

The starting point for the West Coast Trail in Pacific Rim National Park, this area is like none other in the world. Whether you kayak, hike, beachcomb or birdwatch there is an adventure for you in this coastal paradise. Explore the virgin rainforest, deserted beaches, uninhabited islands and rugged coastline. There are excellent opportunities for salmon and halibut fishing in this area of Vancouver Island.

Season: Year round
Requirements: Kayaks and equipment available for rent.
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing suited to a variety of weather conditions, hiking boots, sneakers, hat, bathing suit, towel, jacket.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Restrictions: Youths 12-18 years of age are welcome. Youth rates available on meal & accommodation packages.
Maximum Number of People: 12
Transportation: Lodge is located in Bamfield, BC on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It can be reached from Port Alberni via a well travelled gravel road, approximately 1.5 hours. Float plane dock. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: Seven comfortable rooms with their own entrance and private bathroom. Queen size or twin beds. Lodge facilities include dining lounge, hot tub area, garden, decks.
Meal Information: Delicious meals including locally harvested seafood and complimentary dinner wines. Consideration can be given to special dietary restrictions with advance notice.
Guide Information: Guided boat tours available to view local wildlife.
Weather Information: The climate is moderate year round with summer temperatures averaging between 15-25 degrees Celsius.
Comments: No kayaking experience is necessary, but a moderate level of fitness is recommended.
