ABOUT THIS REGION  BACKPACKING

Trekking the Donjek route of Kluane National Park

Explore the rugged beauty of Kluane National Park on this hiking expedition. The Donjek Route is definitely not a trail; it is not marked or maintained in any manner, so it will be a real wilderness experience. The Donjek Route rises over the vast alpine of the Burwash Uplands and then descends to the toe of the Donjek Glacier. You may rely on our experienced guide for route finding, map and compass skills and creek/river crossing skills. It is a very difficult route, with fast rivers and creeks, rock fall, difficult terrain, inclement weather and wildlife encounters (Dall sheep, Grizzly bears, etc.).

The views and vistas of the majestic Donjek Glacier are unimaginably impressive, it is definitely worthwhile the effort. It is a fantastic hike through pristine mountain wilderness, an experience you’ll not soon forget!
