A West Coast Trail backpacking adventure

This challenging backpacking trip is a true west coast experience and is considered one of the top ten trails in the world. Known also as the "Graveyard of the Pacific", it is rich in human history, wildlife, and natural rugged beauty, and is considered one of the world's top ten hikes. Once you start hiking, you will quickly come to understand why hikers travel from all over the world to undertake the West Coast Trail. The West Coast Trail offers sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, blowholes, caverns, caves, waterfalls, bogs, rainforest, lighthouses, abandoned settlements, shipwreck relics, petroglyphs, native culture, whales, sea lions, eagles, and giant trees. The West Coast Trail itinerary includes stops to see historic and scenic wonders unknown to many hikers. The pace allows time to adjust to the demands of the trail and to fully see and explore this magnificent coastal environment.

A West Coast Trail backpacking adventure

Season: June to September
Requirements: Warm sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack. Rentals available.
Suggested Items: Camera, binoculars, daypack, canteen, insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing suited to a variety of temperatures and weather conditions, rain gear, hat, warm socks, hiking boots, sneakers, swim suit, towel.
Difficulty: Advanced/Difficult
Restrictions: Moderate level of fitness is recommended on this strenuous trip. Be prepared to carry packs of at least 30 pounds.
Equipment Provided: National park user fee, camping fees, food drop, trail ferry fees, cooking gear, camp stoves, tents, tarps, major first aid supplies, emergency radio or satellite phone.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Vancouver, British Columbia. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: In tent campsites at spectacular locations.
Meal Information: Meals/snacks/beverages while on the expedition are included.
Guide Information: Two guides per tour, each with wilderness first aid certification. Your guides have many years of experience in the outdoors and are experts in the activity they lead. They are also familiar with the natural and cultural history of the area and committed to your satisfaction and safety. Our guides have introduced hikers to the West Coast Trail for 19 years. Their years of experience will insure that your visit will include all those special places unknown to the average hiker.
Weather Information: Average summer temperatures are between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
