Backpacking Mt. Assiniboine in the Rockies

This backpacking trip will take you to an area of the Rockies designated as a World Heritage Site. It's famous for breathtaking panoramas, flowering alpine meadows, sub-alpine forests, blue tinted glaciers, azure lakes and snow-capped mountains. Backpack through the Continental Divide including one of the best panoramic views in all the Rockies, then camp beside mountain lakes or streams. We have no hesitation in guaranteeing that you will see some of the most incredible scenery anywhere in the Canadian Rockies.

Backpacking Mt. Assiniboine in the Rockies

The showcase feature of this hike in the Canadian Rockies is Mount Assiniboine [3618 m], known as the Canadian Matterhorn, and is the highest peak in the southern Rockies. Our Rockies hiking adventure includes spectacular helicopter flights into the heart of Mount Assiniboine in the Canadian Rockies. The hiking days and campsites will be filled with commanding and breathtaking views of the Mount Assiniboine region. Each day we will hike to a different viewpoint in Mount Assiniboine park to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Backpacking Mt. Assiniboine in the Rockies

Season: July to August
Requirements: Warm sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack. Rentals available.
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing suited to a variety of temperatures and weather conditions, rain gear, hat, warm socks, hiking boots, sneakers, swim suit, towel.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Restrictions: Moderate level of fitness is recommended. Be prepared to carry packs of at least 30 pounds.
Equipment Provided: Helicopter flights, national and provincial park user fees, camping fees, cooking gear, camp stoves, tents, tarps, major first aid supplies, emergency radio or satellite phone.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Banff, Alberta. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: At tent campsites at spectacular locations.
Meal Information: Meals/snacks/beverages while on the expedition are included.
Guide Information: Two guides per tour, each with wilderness first aid certification. Your guides have many years of experience in the outdoors and are experts in the activity they lead. They are also familiar with the natural and cultural history of the area and committed to your satisfaction and safety.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures average between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
