ABOUT THIS REGION  WILDLIFE WATCHING

Wildlife viewing in the Chilcotin Mountains

View grizzly bears and more on these wildlife watching adventures at a wilderness guest ranch in the southern Chilcotin Mountains. Your licensed guide outfitter offers a 5,000-sq. km operating area encompassing the new south Chilcotin Mountains Park. Located on the lee side of the Coast Mountains, the South Chilcotin Mountains lie within a transition zone. This favored position produces a "Rainshadow", and this means sunny skies and a dry climate. The area is renowned for its bio-diversity, with an abundance of wildflowers, that bloom May to September, and an outstanding variety of wildlife all year round. Understand the life cycles, habits and habitats of our wildlife while contributing to data collection that will help in the long-term management of the species. Collect Grizzly bear samples for DNA research, count age and sex of Rocky Mountain goat, Canadian moose, or the last of the original population of California Bighorn sheep that spread from California to Central British Columbia.

Wildlife viewing in the Chilcotin Mountains

Grizzlies are the symbol of the wilderness. View these awesome animals in their natural habitat as they progress through the seasons. Spring concentration is in the low meadows during breading season. Then, follow them into the sub alpine, by horse, 4x4 and foot, and examine their territory marker trees, explore their dens and collect data for our Grizzly Study. On the winter Predator Stalking packages stalk the most elusive predators in North America by 4x4, by foot and by snowmobile. "Bush Savvy Guides" lead you on these predator quests for Cougar (Puma/Mountain Lion) and Timber wolf. On the Multi Species viewing package travel by horse and by foot and combine the best mountain riding in North America with a multi-species game safari. Prime time at prime locations for Grizzly, Mountain goat, Bighorn sheep, Canadian moose, Mule deer, Black bear, Timber wolf, Bald and Golden eagle. The Single Species viewing packages allow you to choose from Sheep, Mountain Goat, Canadian Moose or Black Bear. Travel by horse or by foot and study a single big game species of your choice. Understand life cycles, habits and habitat, while contributing to data collection that will help insure long-term management of the species. Collect Grizzly bear hair samples for DNA research, count age and sex of Rocky Mountain goat, Canadian moose, or the last of the original population of California Bighorn sheep that spread from California to Central British Columbia.
