ABOUT THIS REGION  OCEAN SEA KAYAKING

Kayaking with the whales off Newfoundland

Come play with the whales as you kayak along the beautiful coastal waters of the island of Newfoundland. On this adventure you get to spend a lot of time experiencing whales from both the land and the sea. You'll ramble along the East Coast Trail (ECT) and Irish Loop region. As the name suggests the ECT is a coastal walking and hiking experience along the scenic shores in the Irish Loop region on Newfoundland and Labrador's Avalon Peninsula. Whales regularly breach the surface all around you as you are kayaking, while tens of thousands of seabirds abound. The group visits once thriving settlements, lighthouses, ecological reserves, historic sites, a 50-meter suspension bridge, and a modern archaeological dig of a 17th century fishing settlement founded by Lord Baltimore (of Maryland fame).

Kayaking with the whales off Newfoundland

Trinity is world renowned for the fantastic availability of whales. Large populations inhabit the surrounding waters and it is a thrill like no other to paddle along side these mammals as they frolic majestically only feet away. An experience like nothing on earth is to watch giant gentle whales diving and playing around your boat. These creatures are highly intelligent and often are curious enough to surface close to the kayaks to get a good look at the occupants.
