ABOUT THIS REGION  WILDERNESS RIVER RAFT TRIPS

Raft, hike and fish at Haines Pass, Yukon

The Haines Pass is one of the most beautiful and scenically diverse areas in the Yukon Territory. Enjoy the best of both worlds by settling in at the base camp located on the Blanchard River close to the Haines Summit. Spend your days rafting, hiking or fishing and return in the evenings to the camp where you can relax while surrounded by spectacular mountain views. En route to the base camp you will visit Pine Lake, Kluane Visitor Information Center, Klukshu Village and historic Dalton Post. During the course of your trip you will spend one day rafting the upper canyon of the famous Tatshenshini River. This is a fun-filled whitewater paddle. You will spend one day hiking to the Samual Glacier or the Three Guardsmen, seldom visited but overwhelmingly beautiful areas. Another day is spent rafting or canoeing the Kathleen River, a picturesque river which starts in beautiful Rainbow Lake and flows through a small canyon - great moose habitat. Another hike will take place along the shore of the lower Tatshenshini River downstream of Dalton Post. This hike ends at a placer gold mine bordering Kluane National Park. Evenings can be spent either relaxing at camp or fishing the lakes and rivers of the area. For people wanting a learning experience, your guides can also offer some basic canoe and/or kayak instruction.
