Lake trout adventure in the Barrens

The barrenlands are another world combining wildlife, dramatic scenery and of course, excellent fishing. Come for trophy lake trout and arctic grayling in MacKay Lake, with its crystal clear and cold waters. The lake trout here range in size to over 50 pounds and arctic grayling up to 3 pounds. In early July the ice breaks up from this 100 mile long lake and its lake trout can be found in the shallows and river mouths.

Lake trout adventure in the Barrens

This area is in the heart of the summer range of the Bathurst caribou herd and their spectacular migration back from the calving grounds occurs in mid to late July. A variety of nesting birds in the area include peregrine falcons, jaeger, geese, and tundra swans. A complete arctic getaway with fabulous fishing and fantastic wildlife.
