From its headwaters at Lac de Gras, the Coppermine River flows swiftly down to its mouth at the Coronation Gulf of the Arctic Ocean. On its northern route, the river descends through a variety of land forms. The river begins in the stark Arctic tundra, passes through the dense spruce forests in the Redrock and Rocknest Lakes region, and ends up descending through the low lying mountain ranges and rolling hills of the barrenlands. This company provides the best ratio of guide to guests in the north (the single most important factor influencing the quality of your trip) and sets the highest standards for guides knowledge and natural interpretation.

| Restrictions: Participants must have previous whitewater experience. Tandem canoe trips are very skill-specific and careful thought must be applied when assessing your canoe skill level before committing to Class III White Water. Pre-requisites: You have canoed previously and know the rudimentary strokes: bow, reverse, "j", draw, pry and sweep. You are comfortable paddling in the bow and working with another partner or you have river reading skills and can control the canoe from the stern while working with another partner. You have completed a whitewater canoe course. You are able to read Grade III water and quickly formulate strategies while working with a partner to navigate. At least once a year for the two previous seasons or more, you paddle Grade II/III whitewater with friends or a canoe club. You are committed to at least one "warm up" trip or course prior to the planned trip this season. We can modify these requirements by the use of "canyon rigs" for the rapids but this must be discussed before booking. |
