Whitewater rafting on the Highwood River

Brave the challenging rapids of the action packed Highwood River on one of these whitewater rafting adventures. Descend through abundant rapids, huge drops and the natural wonders of this magnificent whitewater canyon. Conveniently located just 1.5 hours southwest of Calgary in beautiful Kananaskis Country, this river is the ideal destination for a day trip or weekend outing. Class III and IV rapids offer the adventure seeker a thrilling and fun day out. The trip includes an all you can eat, full buffet lunch and complimentary camping at our private, riverside basecamp. This early season adventure is available in May and June only.

Whitewater rafting on the Highwood River

The two day weekend adventure in June is twice the thrills of the full day challenge! Expect whitewater excitement throughout the weekend on one of the best whitewater rivers Alberta has to offer. The gourmet food in this remote setting will astound you. Enjoy in the camaraderie as you gather around the riverside campfire and share your memories of the day with new and old friends. This weekend getaway is truly an experience of a lifetime!

Whitewater rafting on the Highwood River

Season: May to June
Requirements: Tents and camping gear for 2 day trip or single day trips if staying overnight.
Suggested Items: Waterproof camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Suggested Clothing: Warm clothing suited to a variety of weather conditions, hat, swim suit, towel, sneakers, fleece or wool sweater, dry clothing for after the rafting.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Restrictions: Minimum age for this trip is 16.
Equipment Provided: Helmets, lifejackets, raft and equipment, wetsuits, neoprene wet socks.
Transportation: Trips begin and end at a local base camp in Kananaskis Country, about a 1.5 hour drive from Calgary.
Accommodations: Not included in the tour but available at local campsites, lodges and hotels.
Meal Information: Buffet style lunch included.
Guide Information: Having a professional river guide is essential to your trip. Be assured that your guides are highly trained and professional in every way. They are required to have First Aid, CPR, river rescue training and more. Some are veterans of international guiding experience. Mostly though, they are fun people to be with.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures will range from 10 to 25 degrees celsius. Water levels are highest in early summer.
Comments: Trips run rain or shine.
