ABOUT THIS REGION  HORSE PACK TRIPS

Explore the wolf population of Banff National Park

Your guide, Melanie Percy will again be guiding this year on a 5 day tent trip designed for those interested in the wolf population of Banff National Park. The 5 day trip allows guests an opportunity to spend more time in the Flints Park area where Melanie has done most of her leading research. Enjoy the colors of early fall while experiencing the cowboy classroom in it's splendor. Using the latest in radio-telemetry/tracking devices, Melanie will pinpoint high wolf use areas as well as summer and winter habitat in the valley. Lunch talks will inform about pup production in the wild, denning habits, history and general wolf ecology while daily rides and evening camp fires are supplemented with plenty of stories and experiences to go around.

Melanie's experience as a wildlife biologist began in 1994 after completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, Ontario. At that time she moved to Banff to assist Carolyn Callaghan (co-director of the Central Rockies Wolf Project) with collecting field data on wolves in the central Rockies ecosystem. Melanie recently completed her Master of Science thesis on the movement patterns of wolves and bears in the Bow Valley of Banff National Park.
