ABOUT THIS REGION  FISHING DAY TRIPS - RIVERS

Salmon Fishing adventure on BC's Fraser River

The Mighty Fraser is home of the largest runs of Salmon on this planet. Starting with Chinook or "Spring" Salmon, the largest of all Pacific Salmon to Pink Salmon that only return once every two years. These full day tours offer a chance to fish for all five species with an experienced guide to show you all of the hot spots. Sockeye salmon are without a doubt one of the finest and most abundant gamefish of the Fraser Valley is the sockeye salmon. Imagine a sunny September morning, anchored in a beautiful stretch of aqua blue water, schools of Sockeye breaking the surface and birds of all manner flying overhead. As you peer off to the deeper water close by, a nine foot Sturgeon breaches the water, and your heart skips a beat. Under the boat there is a big commotion as a slick shiny seal cruises by picking out select sockeye for their share of the bounty. Just as you realize you’ve been lost in the beauty of your surroundings, a silver bright sockeye, catapaults from the water, sporting a “Bent Rods” piece of lip jewelry. The fight is on, and amazing acrobatic sockeye is proof you are in fishing heaven.

Chinook, or "Spring" Salmon are present in the Fraser River from March until the end of November. These trophy fish range anywhere from 15lb to 50lb with some fish reaching weights of 60lb! Our guides are able to offer trips for clients who would like to fish for "Big Reds" in the summer or chase "Harrison Whites" in the fall. The magestic Coho Salmon is a very challenging fish species to catch. These acrobatic fish range between 5lb to 20lb. They provide a spectacular fight on both gear and fly rods. Every odd year sees the return of Pink Salmon. Smallest of the all Salmon species, it is also the most abundant. This scrappy little fish is a great family fish and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. 2003 saw close to 50 million Pink Salmon returning to the Fraser River. Chum Salmon, or "Dog" Salmon as they are known in these parts, are also very abundant and may provide "pound for pound" one of the best battles of all. Easily caught on gear or fly, they can provide a nice compliment to the other Salmon species.
