ABOUT THIS REGION  BEAR VIEWING TOURS

Polar Bear tours south of Churchill Manitoba

Viewing polar bears in their natural habitat during the short arctic summer has become very popular with nature lovers and photographers. Canada is second to none for viewing polar bears. Nearby Churchill, Manitoba has become famous for its polar bear concentrations during the late fall and early winter as they wait for Hudson Bay to freeze. Just south of Churchill, along the coast of Hudson Bay near the historical community of York Factory, is Wapusk National Park and Cape Tatnum. The local topography of Cape Tatnum is a natural summer haven for polar bears due to its raised sandy beaches which provide relief for the bears from the summer heat.

This lodge is unique in that it offers polar bear viewing in August and September, which means better weather, and you can see the stunning fall colours of the arctic tundra. The lodge is situated only a few hundred metres from the coast line and bears are often seen right up to the lodge's enclosed compound. The compound keeps guests, and bears safe. During the day you will venture out onto the tundra on guided tours to view the bears in their most natural setting. Coastal ground tours will provide you with a personal connection to the raw and natural oceans edge before you. An open concept of travel through this environment provides for equally interesting adventure, as you traverse 35 km of established trails with All-Terrain-Vehicles. With no other lodges on the coast within 150 km, and the sky line is unlimited. Strict protocol while traveling in this high density polar bears domain is applied/enforced.
