ABOUT THIS REGION  HIKING

Vancouver Island Alberni Valley Waterfall Tour

Where there are mountains, there are waterfalls! On this Vancouver Island excursion, you'll hike to as many as five spectacular waterfalls. You will also walk over a small suspension bridge over one of them. Around some of the falls you'll discover impressive old-growth trees. There is also some history and native culture associated with some of these waterfalls.

You'll have lunch at the Roger Creek Fish Hatchery. And after lunch you'll be treated to a tour of the facility and learn how three species of salmon are raised to enhance the river's capacity to produce them. If you're into birding, there's also a chance to see the unique American Dipper, a perching bird that climbs about under the water and has a wonderful song. Of course you will almost certainly see Bald eagles on this trip. They are quite common in the area. On this excursion, you'll learn about the role of water in rainforest ecosystems. There is a wonderful ambience by a waterfall on a hot day in the Alberni Valley
