Steelhead Fishing British Columbia in the Fraser Valley offers good angling opportunities for winter and summer run Steelhead. The Vedder and Chehalis River's both contain good stocks of winter Steelhead while only the Chehalis River has summer runs. The Vedder River is the main steelhead river in the Fraser Valley, 6 to 10,000 fish can be expected to return on an average year. Many Steelhead are caught each year in the 15 to 20 lbs range, with an estimated average weight being 10 to 12 lb. You can fish for wild and hatchery Steelhead with retention available for hatchery fish only. These fish have been known to perform spectacular jumps and runs in a quest to be free. This and their sheer beauty is why anglers from around the world converge on British Columbia each winter. The lodge begins guiding for Winter Steelhead in mid January and continue through until April. Peak season for these trophy fish is Feb 15, to April 15th.
