Cruise to explore Baffin Island and Greenland

Explore the arctic coast of Baffin Island, northern Quebec and Greenland on this northern cruise. Your northern journey begins in Greenland as you sail up the Kangerlussuaq Fiord, the longest in West Greenland. This program will largely focus on the culture and arts of the Inuit of Greenland, Nunavut and Nunavik. An increasingly popular art form, the sculpture, prints and weaving of the Inuit can’t help draw on the inspiration of their glorious surroundings. Not only will you have the great privilege of visiting many hamlets, you will witness the spectacular landscapes dominate life in the north. In many of the hamlets you will take part in demonstrations and meet with community leaders and artists.

Cruise to explore Baffin Island and Greenland

The 122-passenger Adventurer, among the very few vessels in the world specifically constructed for expedition voyages to the far reaches of this remote land. Her icestrengthened hull permits her to glide easily and safely through ice-strewn waters that are not accessible to conventional cruise vessels. She has advanced communications and navigation equipment, and newly installed, state-of-the-art Sperry Gyrofin stabilizers. The majority of shore landings are undertaken using Zodiacs. Zodiac embarkations involve descending gangway stairs with double handrails and stepping into the Zodiac from a small platform at water level (assistance is provided). The travelling style is casual, with open dining room seating and no formal dress requirements. Woolly sweaters, rubber boots and a sense of adventure are the only necessities! The open-bridge policy offers a superb view for birding or wildlife sighting and a chance to interact with the crew.
