Steelhead season is April through to the middle of May, prime time being the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May. Your guide will know all the hot spots. When the fish are in the river he will lead you to them, and then it will be your turn to apply your skill and get them to the beach for a photo session that will be long remembered. This is a true wilderness fishing adventure where on most days you will have the river to yourself. The accommodation for the river fishing trips is at the Trapper’s cabin right on the river. In the morning you can view the steelhead making their way upstream while having your coffee. If you are a Steelheader, this is the place you want to be. Salmon fishing trips start in mid-July and run through to September. At this time you can tie in to all species of salmon. (Chinook, Coho, Pink, Chum, and summer run Steelhead, as well as Dolly Varden and Cutthroat Trout) “You can fish ‘till your arms fall off,” as your guide would say. Imagine yourself fishing the crystal clear waters of the Kakweiken as the eagles soar overhead and the bears and other wildlife peacefully roam the riverside feeding on the abundance of wild salmon. This is truly as good as it gets.
