ABOUT THIS REGION  POWER BOAT TOURS & CRUISES

Columbia River interpretive jet boat tour

On your next visit to Golden, British Columbia, take an exciting and informative jet boat tour on the Columbia River. Balance is the key on this jet boat tour with the power of the jet boat to thrill you and the history, scenery and wildlife to amaze you. The mighty Columbia River, a BC Heritage River designate, is bound to British Columbia's history and identity. The Columbia remains one of the most important watersheds in North America. Throughout North America, wetlands and river ecosystems are disappearing at an alarming rate. Fortunately, here in the Columbia Valley many local interest groups labour tirelessly to protect the Columbia River Basin and the wetlands. These wetlands remain a shining example of a fast disappearing and crucial ecological habitat. The wetlands from Windermere Lake to Donald are home to 180 bird species and 37 species of mammals ranging from tiny shrews to bald eagles, grizzly bears and mountain lions. On the tour you are likely to spot bald eagles and many other birds along the river bank. In spring and fall black bears may also be seen along the Columbia.

Columbia River interpretive jet boat tour

Equipped with your comfort in mind, these custom-built aluminum jet boats are not your average boat. Designed to travel in swift, shallow water, our boats enable us to share an otherwise inaccessible area with our guests. Come an experience one of North America's greatest rivers! All tours depart from the river base located at the historic town site of Donald. Once on board our custom jet boats, you will be guided downstream from the river base past two tributaries that combine with the Columbia as the river flows past the Purcell, Selkirk and Rocky Mountain Ranges. You will witness spectacular deltas, scenic mountain vistas and dramatic canyons steeped in history as rich as the gold rumoured to be there. The 20 km canyon section explored during the tour represents only 1% of the Columbia's 2000 km length but it is the only remaining free flowing stretch of this expansive waterway outside the wetlands, unaffected by dam control. Let us share with you, the spirit of this place - the Columbia River!
