Exciting canoeing trip on the Athabasca River

Expect fun, thrills and action on this downriver canoe trip on the Athabasca River. You and your partner will learn to 'read' the water and practice minimum impact camping on this true wilderness canoeing adventure. This canoeing trip begins in the town of Hinton, located in the foothills of the Rockies, and takes you 190 km down the mighty Athabasca River, ending in the town of Whitecourt. Along the way you will have a chance to fish in unspoiled trout streams, view wildlife, swim and relax around a campfire under the northern lights.

No paddling experience is necessary. The trip includes a couple of days of intense training on quiet waters that will prepare you for the days on untamed rivers. Your guides will also teach you the proper way to camp with minimum impact on the environment.

Season: June to September
Requirements: Sleeping bag.
Suggested Items: Camera, binoculars, sunscreen, fishing gear, sunglasses, daypack, flashlight, pocketknife.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing to suit a variety of weather conditions, rain gear, hiking boots, sneakers, warm jacket, sweater, shorts, hat, bathing suit, towel.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Restrictions: Minimum group size is 4 participants.
Maximum Number of People: 12
Equipment Provided: Van transportation, camping gear, camping fees, canoes and equipment.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Edmonton, Alberta. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: Accommodations in tent campsites along the river.
Meal Information: Meals are included.
Guide Information: Your guides are all residents of western Canada and their experience and leadership will provide you with a worry-free vacation.
Weather Information: Average summer temperatures range between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Comments: Aug 11-15 for singles only, 40 years of age or younger.
