Lodge to lodge hiking in the Selkirk Mountains

Explore the Selkirk Mountains on foot in these lodge to lodge hiking tours. The lodges, located in the Esplanade Range, are accessible only by helicopter and offer high ridge walks, easily accessed summits, crystal clear alpine lakes and abundant wildlflowers. Whatever your age or ability, the variety of this mountain range will give you a truly memorable holiday. There are three lodges in the area and many guests choose to traverse between them for a change of scenery and terrain. Other groups have their favourites and you may choose to spend the duration of your holiday at one location.

The Esplanade Range is a unique alpine area located on the eastern edge of the Selkirk Mountains. Studded with many alpine lakes and tarns and nuturing an abundance of alpine wildflowers, this area is a hikers paradise. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable and suited to the environment in which the lodges are located. This trip is the perfect summer getaway and a memorable alpine experience.

Season: mid July to mid September
Requirements: Backpack if traversing between lodges.
Suggested Items: Camera, binoculars, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, flashlight.
Suggested Clothing: Clothing suited to a vairety of weather conditions. Rain gear, warm jacket, hiking boots, bathing suit, shorts, long pants.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Restrictions: Weight restrictions on packing apply.
Maximum Number of People: 12
Equipment Provided: Helicopter flight.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Golden, BC. Golden can be reached via highway # 1 west of Banff, Alberta (about 135 km).
Accommodations: Cozy, two-story lodges with wood stove, common room and six separate bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is no indoor plumbing or electricity. There is a chemical toilet and outhouse, propane lighting and a wood heated sauna.
Meal Information: Hearty and delicious meals served family style around a large dining table.
Guide Information: Your guides are experienced and very knowledgeable of the area.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures range between 15 and 30 degrees celsius.
Comments: You have the option of spending the entire trip at one lodge, or you can choose to traverse between lodges. Helicopter flights to the lodge are 10 to 20 minutes.
