ABOUT THIS REGION  OCEAN SEA KAYAKING

Sea kayaking in the Broken Group Islands

Experience 4 or 5 days of sea kayaking in the sheltered waters of the Broken Islands Archipelago. Located in Barkley Sound off the west coast of Vancouver Island, this enchanting area encompasses approximately 100 islands which form part of the Pacific Rim National Park. With a view of the island's forested peaks, these sheltered waterways are a paradise that all levels of paddlers can enjoy. A great way to explore Canada's west coast.

Sea kayaking in the Broken Group Islands

You will be paddling 3 - 4 hours each day, with snack and breaks approximately every hour. Most of the paddling will be in the morning when the winds tend to be calmer, so you will be up early and then have time for naps in the afternoon. You will paddle at a leisurely pace. If we are lucky with our tides and winds, you will float over some amazing tidal pools of batstars, sea cucumbers, sea anenomes & sea urchins, to name a few. In choosing the island for the camp your guides weigh many factors including group strength, sea state, weather, and the presence of othe kayakers. The Broken Group Islands are better suited for exploration than expedition style sea kayaking. The group will tend to stay on one island and set up a base camp for the four nights stay. Each day your guides present a different travel theme and each day you go to a different direction.
