ABOUT THIS REGION  WINE & CULINARY TOURS

Walking wine tour along the Niagara vineyards

Enjoy a walking tour along the Bruce Trail in the Niagara region. Ontario boasts hundreds of kilometers of hiking and walking trails, only one of which is the well-known 800-km Bruce Trail. We explore the most scenic parts of these trails. Add to that our choice of the best local points of interest and historic sites, accommodation in country inns or bed and breakfast establishments, meals using fresh local ingredients, knowledgeable guides, van support and our promise that you will have fun!!

Walking wine tour along the Niagara vineyards

Your trek starts with a boat ride across Lake Ontario to Queenston, where the Bruce trail begins. Explore historic Niagara-on-the–Lake. Our walkabout will highlight some of its historical and architectural tradition. Niagara is wine country. Everywhere we’ll walk through overlooks and bypasses vineyards. More than 20 wineries thrive in this most favorable microclimate and we’ll taste some of the award-winning wines and sample the local cuisine they were developed to complement. Of course, the premiere natural attraction of the area is Niagara Falls. We’ll ride the Maid of the Mist, we’ll walk under the falls, we’ll follow the trails around Goat Island in the spray and we’ll hike deep into the gorge below the falls to see some of the unique vegetation and birdlife. You’ll have some time to helicopter over the falls, ride a jet boat into the whirlpool or take a cable car across it, if you wish. We’ll also trek into another little-known falls which is 2/3 the height of Niagara Falls. Our walks along the Bruce trail and side trails will cross the four successive Welland Canals, increased in size each time as the ships got longer and larger. Watch cargo from all over the world going through the locks to the heart of North America. At the butterfly conservatory, you’ll watch new butterflies emerge from their cocoons and be charmed as they perch on your shoulders. See the biggest living maple tree in Canada and 600-year old cedars clinging to the rocks of Rattlesnake Point. Shopping’s not a priority on our trips but we know you’ll want to have a taste of the craft and specialty stores in Queenston and Niagara-on-the-Lake and, yes, the more “tourist” oriented shops and attractions of Niagara Falls. There’s time for a visit to the casino too, if you wish. This trip is a must during your next visit to Toronto.
