Rocky Mountain Explorer hiking trip

This active hiking tour is designed for those who want get off the beaten path and get into the park, this tour enables travellers to hike and walk some of the most scenic trails in the Canadian Rockies. The "off the beaten path" takes you on an overnight canoe trip in Wells Gray Provincial Park. You explore six provincial and national parks and a wide variety of terrain including spectacular alpine meadows, sweeping glaciers, hanging valleys and mountain forests and streams.

Your itinerary includes an overnight canoe trip into Wells Gray Park. At Mount Robson Provincial Park you will hike the famous Berg Lake Trail before heading into Jasper National Park where you will have a chance to hike the Maligne Canyon. The Jasper Tram offers fantastic views of the area. The Banff, Lake Louise and Yoho National Park areas offer endless hiking opportunities and you will visit Emerald Lake, Yoho Valley, Johnston Canyon, Bow Falls and Lake Minnewanka. This driving adventure is an active tour and participants should be ready for lots of hiking and exploring.

Rocky Mountain Explorer hiking trip

Season: June to August
Requirements: Sleeping bag, cost of optional activities.
Suggested Items: Camera, binoculars, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Suggested Clothing: Warm coat, rain gear, sneakers, hiking boots, long pants, sweater, shorts, t-shirts, hat, bathing suit, towel.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Maximum Number of People: 15
Equipment Provided: 15 passenger maxi-van, driver, park fees, entrance to Miette Hot Springs and Jasper Tram, Lake Louise gondola, camping and cooking equipment, camping fees, guided hikes, canoe equipment.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Vancouver, BC.
Accommodations: Camping and lodge/hotel (two nights). Hot showers are available on all hotel and camping nights except on the overnight canoe trip.
Meal Information: Food kitty on all days (local payment to tour leader of $160). These meals will include BBQ's, pastas, salads, meats, vegetables, fruits and desserts and vegetarian diets are available.
Guide Information: All activities and sightseeing is led by an experienced leader familiar with the culture, geography, history and wildlife of the area. All drivers/leaders are first aid certified.
Weather Information: In the summer months, most areas of the Rockies offer warm and hot days and cool nights. Average temperatures are between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
